You Don’t Have to Be a Veterinarian to Help Animals: My Guest Post at Our Hen House

Editors get a bad rap sometimes. We’re obsessed with making everything perfect, we harp on grammar rules, and we spend a lot of time pointing out the bad and ugly.  Luckily, I don’t let that bad rap bother me. I love being an editor.

I’ve been doing some editorial work for Our Hen House for a few months. I love being a part of such a great organization. Recently, I was honored to have the chance to spend a little bit of time on the other side of the desk, writing instead of editing. In my guest post, You Don’t Have to Be a Veterinarian to Help Animals, I talk about the connections between being an editor and being a vegan and how I plan on combining the two.

I have to give big thanks to Jasmin and Mariann for their outstanding editorial expertise. It’s no secret that I think every writer needs an editor, and I’m lucky for all help they gave me to turn the rough draft into the final post. I say it all the time: Even editors need editors!

It’s an exciting Monday for me! Please have a look at the post and let me know what you think!

I left a comment on your post over there, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello on your blog as well. Your story is inspiring, and seriously, you’re doing my dream work. While I have yet to figure out a way to combine my editorial expertise, humor, veganism, love of animals/food/words into something solid, you give me hope 😉 If you ever need a partner in crime, look no more!

OK. That sounded lame, but whatever. Great post! Go you!

Abby, that does not sound lame at all! Thanks so much for commenting! I really appreciate it. I’m glad I can give you hope. It gives *me* hope that you want to figure these things out, too. So many people want to help animals and have thriving careers, and I’m convinced that they’re not mutually exclusive! Just takes a lot of work and gusto, right? 🙂
